Antiseptic activity assay of ethanolic extract of Aceh’s rambutan rind (Nephelium lappaceum L.) against Staphylococcus aureus and its formulation as hand sanitizer gel

The hands are one of the most susceptible parts human body to bacterial infection. One way maintain health is hand hygiene. Ethanolic rambutan rind extract from Aceh province has been studied in order determine if it can inhibit growth. This research was conducted antiseptic activity ethanol against Stahpylococcus aureus by determining phenol coefficient and whether ethanolic Aceh’s be formulated into a sanitizer gel. Antiseptic testing performed using Rideal-Walker method which carried out 5 dilutions (1:100, 1:150, 1:200, 1:250 1:300). absorbance measurement showed that could act as an antiseptic, at concentration 1% dilution 1:200 1.67. form gel Carbopol gelling agent. results brown with distinctive menthol odor changed dark color after cycling test. evaluation all formulas appropriated requirements except for adhesion parameter. irritation test volunteers did not experience any signs irritation. preference respondents liked shape aroma parameters but
